"Hi Andrea! My baby is 9 weeks old and I'm just now considering EC. I am interested in your Baby Meets Potty mini-course because 1) it is my baby's age group and 2) the lower price compared to the full course. I am wondering if it's enough training to EC the whole way through or if I should get the full course instead. Today we're going to talk about what you can do when your baby won't sit on the potty (or won’t stay seated on the toilet).

Does your baby fuss every time you put him down to sit on the potty?

Does she stand up right after she’s seated and either crawl or walk away, before doing her business?

Will your baby ONLY pee or poop standing up lately?

Don't you go worrying, now. Don’t quit elimination communication just yet. This is actually VERY common, and in today's episode I’ll break it down.

But first let me say it out loud: this is a really frustrating issue you guys! I’ve been there, done that. Know that you aren't alone and that I am here to help you figure it out.

Today I'm gonna share how I maintain my work-baby-EC balance.

Because: when you’ve got a lot on your plate, EC does not have to fall off onto the floor! Quite the opposite. EC can actually simplify your super-busy life. Even if you don’t work but you’re feeling super-overwhelmed, mastering your potty practice can ground the whole chaotic scene.

Anywho, if you listened to last week's episode, you learned that A LOT goes into operating my various EC and mama-centric businesses, but I didn’t really share how I balance it all while raising five kids under the age of eight. And how do I keep everyone (hubs included) from becoming addicted to convenient diapers? Here are some tricks that I've learned along the way!

Today we’re gonna talk about what to do if your baby pees five minutes after offering the potty, when doing elimination communication.

Have you ever had this happen to you? You offer your baby a pottytunity, your baby doesn't go, but then baby pees five minutes later in the diaper or on the floor.

Probably most of you are nodding your heads, because this is actually really common. Today we're going to talk about a few of the reasons this might happen, and what you can do about it.

"Hi Andrea! My DD is 8wks, EC'd from a few days old using cloth nappies - just had her first 2 dry nights. Was sleeping almost exclusively on my chest. I wasn't expecting a linear process of achieving nighttime dryness, BUT these last 2 nights she's been wet again - coinciding with her sleeping next to me. Also not sleeping for as many hours. Are changes to her sleep arrangements influencing nighttime dryness, or was this dryness was a fluke at this age and it's all been a coincidence? Georgia"

"My son is 12.5 mos, is mostly reliable with pees and we catch 1/3 of his sneaky poos. We have him in undies or trainers throughout the day, unless we experience many consecutive misses, then we put him in a cloth diaper to save our sanity. He doesn't seem to go more or less while he is in the CD. Anyway, I know this is about the time that he should be daytime dry, but I haven't seen him progress in many months. I feel silly, but sometimes it is nice to hear a fresh perspective! How will I know.."

"Hi Andrea, I did EC with my son and used the Tiny Potty training method at 19 months. Currently, we are struggling with helping our son (now 25 months) communicate when he needs to pee. He is very much aware of when he needs to pee and where it goes, but he rarely , rarely tells us. There really aren't any other signs at this point, so using our EC skills doesn't really help. I use timing mostly but that is getting so tiring. I just want to be done!"

"8.5 month old; been doing part-time EC for several months. For the past month or so: during a time that I know he can pee, he is fine until I put him on the changing table, when he immediately starts to fuss. I continue with offering him the potty. He will cry and squirm for several minutes, but I continue to hold him until he finally relaxes and eventually pees. This makes me wonder if he really hates this so much that I should stop doing it, and if I am setting myself up for bigger problems."

"I have been EC-ing my two-month-old since one week old. He cries about 90% of the times I hold him over the potty. Recently he has stopped crying while peeing or pooing, and then cries again when done. But why does he cry when I offer the potty? Will he grow out if this? (He also cries on the change table).
